Official update: upcoming community budget meeting

We'll be holding a public budget meeting on April 10th at 6pm in the town hall. All residents are welcome to attend and provide input on how community funds should be allocated this year. An agenda will be posted to the community board one week in advance.

Volunteer opportunities at the community center

The community center is looking for volunteers for various programs: youth tutoring, senior tech classes, and weekend events coordination. Even a few hours a month makes a huge difference. Comment below if you're interested!

Update on the recycling program improvements

Following last month's feedback about recycling collection issues, I'm happy to report that we've partnered with a new waste management company. Starting next week, recycling will be collected twice weekly instead of once. Thanks for your patience!

Suggestion: Monthly town hall meetings

I think we should have regular monthly town hall meetings where community members can directly engage with leadership. Currently, it feels like there's a disconnect between residents and decision-makers. Open dialogue would help tremendously.

Request for transparency in budget allocation

With the new fiscal year approaching, I'd like to request that the budget allocation process be more transparent. Can we get detailed breakdowns of how tax dollars are being spent? Citizens deserve to know where their money goes.

Let's use this thread to highlight great local businesses in our area. Shopping local keeps money in our community and supports our neighbors. I'll start: check out Maria's Bakery on 5th Street - best pastries in town!

Concern about traffic safety near schools

There have been several near-miss incidents near Jefferson Elementary during drop-off and pick-up times. Can we please add more crossing guards or install speed bumps? Our children's safety should be the top priority.

Thank you for the community garden initiative!

I just want to say thank you to everyone involved in creating the new community garden spaces. It's brought neighbors together and beautified our area. This is exactly the kind of initiative we need more of!

Question about the new parking regulations

Can someone from the city council clarify the new parking regulations downtown? The signage is confusing and I've seen many people get tickets. Are we allowed to park on Main Street after 6pm on weekdays?
